Welcome to the
Oklahoma Camera Club, Inc.
In October 1931, seven photographers,
amateur and professional, met at the Oklahoma City YMCA and founded
the Oklahoma Camera Club (OCC). The club has met continuously ever
since, celebrating 79 years in October of this year.
The OCC holds meetings the second and
fourth Tuesday of every month at the Central Presbyterian Church
located at the corner of NW 50th and May Avenue. Meetings
begin at 7:30 pm; everyone is welcome to attend. Come early, visit
and enjoy a snack.
Our membership represents all levels of
photography ranging from the beginner to the advanced and professional
photographer, coming together to learn and improve our photographic
skills. We share our work during our meetings through competitions
and programs plus enjoy workshops, educational programs and occasional
field trips. The members have built on a long history of photographic
technology, gradually evolving today to the challenges, flexibility
and beauty of digital technology while continuing to appreciate the
original various photographic technologies that we have grown to love
as well.
Meeting Structures:
All meetings begin with welcoming of our visitors and various
announcements such as scheduled Workshops for the month,
any field trips being planned, various interclub competitions and any
other club activities being planned. This is followed by club
competition; we conduct print competition the first meeting of the
month and projected digital competition the second meeting. We take a
short break then enjoy a program presented by a club member or a guest
speaker. This is followed by the competition results. The members
socialize before and after the meetings, sharing ideas and discussing
photography.
